In keeping with the Pilgrim tradition,
Colonial Church has a Bell Tower, not a steeple.
Colonial Church in Edina, Minnesota, is a Congregational Church which stands in the Reformed tradition, the same tradition from which our “Puritan-Pilgrim” forebearers founded the white clapboard churches of New England. Since our founding in 1946, Colonial Church has grown to become one of the largest Congregational churches in America with ties to the United Church of Christ (UCC) and two other Congregational bodies. Colonial is committed to ministries of faith formation for all ages, living out our faith in everyday life, and global mission — all from the perspective of biblical faith while drawing upon the richness of the Reformed and Congregational heritage.
The name "Colonial Church" was chosen on March 24, 1946, to describe a community church with the ideals and hopes of our colonial fathers and mothers and our name provided the architectural inspiration for the church and surrounding grounds.
